Valentina Crestani teaches German Linguistics and Translation at the University of Milan. She is the local coordinator for the research and teaching projects “Europe as a Discourse Community” and “European Pluralities (College of Central European Studies)” as part of the 4EU+ alliance among the Universities of Milan, Heidelberg, Paris, Prague, and Warsaw. She is afferent to the inter-university research center Cultures of Gender. She has edited several volumes, including “Gender, Disability, Language. Projects and Perspectives in Milan,” the result of the DIR-LING+ research project, of which she was the principal investigator. In addition, she is the author of the volume “Die periphere Ãœbersetzung Deutsch-Italienisch. Audiovisuell und Leicht” (2022) and several essays that thematize the topic of “Leichte Sprache” in German and “easy language” in English, also in combination with subtitling. She received her Ph.D. in 2010 from the University of Turin.
