LINGUISTIC INCLUSIVENESS
AND MULTILINGUALISM
This project promotes linguistic inclusion and multilingualism through the European Companion Volume of 2020. It implies a dynamic and holistic vision of the linguistic-communicative skills in all the languages.
The task supports a fair and inclusive language education, which fights every form of discrimination supporting the protection of linguistic rights. To reach this goal, we have developed online training programs made up of videos and multimedia contents. The target consists of second language teachers, certification bodies, foreign and second languages institutes.

INIZIATIVE
THE IMPORTANCE OF MULTILINGUALISM
Interview with Monica Barsi, full professor of Language and Translation – French Language
What’s multilingualism?
The multilingualism, completely supported by the Companion Volume of 2020, leaves behind the ideality of bilingualism. The idea at the core is to not separate the known languages, because they are all always present in our mind, even though we don’t know them all at the same level. So, they are all useful when we decide to learn a new one, thanks to similarities and differences.
Which are the goals of the project?
We want to underline the important role played in Europe by the Companion Volume in the teaching of foreign languages, since nowadays linguistic and cultural diversity plays a huge role in our society.
The tool you’ve chosen is the video
The website Promoplurilinguismo.unimi.it offers an online course composed by different classes: in this way users can watch the contents both separately and in sequence. The first general part consists of four steps which introduces the European situation. Then there are four more sections about communication: production, reception, interaction, and mediation.
